We like to think that our designs have always been out of this world, but when we got the chance to collaborate with Produktworks Design, an engineering firm, we were able to co-create something that is truly one of a kind. This orrery, a mechanical model of the solar system developed for Tycho Design, was constructed to stimulate the intellect and spirit of anyone who beholds it.
As the planets make their way around the lit handblown glass sun, they can provide an accurate reading of the current time. This sculpture was designed to serve as the focal point of a room. It is a true astronomical clock model of the greater world in which we live because the planets spin and tilt in the same way that our solar system does.
We are very pleased with how the sun in the center turned out. On their website, Tycho Design provides information that will enlighten you further.
